8 June, 2015: Invitation to deliver a talk for the 2016-17 London lecture series of the Royal Institute of Philosophy

The Royal Institute of Philosophy is a charity dedicated to the advancement of philosophy in all its branches through the organisation and promotion of teaching, discussion and research of all things philosophical. The Institute is not committed to any particular philosophical school or method or, of course, any ideology. ...The Institute supports philosophical events which are open to the general public through a system of 26 branches all over the UK. We run a themed series of talks in London each year that's also free and open to anyone. (

I'll be speaking on the metaphysics of mathematics, logic and physics (particularly astrophysics) - investigating what our intuitions about each can teach us about the other two.

The lectures are published by Cambridge University Press: ...a volume which brings together the lectures given in the London Lecture Series. These lectures are themed and give leading philosophers a free hand to approach topics as they see fit. The result is often surprising and always interesting. (

You can also read about the current series on the Institute's website.

14 March, 2015: Invitation to deliver 4th annual Berkeley Lecture (2015)

The Berkeley Lecture is an annual event at Maynooth University in which a talk in the general area of mathematics and philosophy is given by a high-profile visiting speaker. It is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Philosophy at Maynooth University. ( I'm looking forward to sharing some of what I'm currently putting together for the Springer monograph, amongst other things!
